Lovely 1940。This is a truly outstanding unique black felt hat from the fashionable 1940s\' ! The hat is made of one piece of black felt that has been stretched as a large oval shape allowing for an opening to sit on top off the head. Instead of a flat shape, the hat has been bent upwards to make it concave at the top, plus one area at the front where it has been further bent to create more drama. The back of the head opening is shaped into a point, and features a bow made of a narrow felt band. Two gorgeous appliqués have been attached at the top of the hat, made of narrow strips of black felt. There is an elastic band attached to the inside of the hat to help keep it in a tilted position. This is such a distinguished looking hat! Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, an extended cap, or a combination of these. 30s Fashion certainly seemed fussier than the 1920s with its relentless ornaments of bows, trims and frills.
